You should also check your auxiliary water pump for proper operation. If this pump is not working as it should, you will have less heat at idle/slow speed.
We had a minus 41deg. last week and the inside temperature was nice and worm on automatic fan setting (low). I drove 150 with only a t-shirt on.
Engine temp. was a cosntant 100deg.
