hs_300E may have figured out the problem.

Drive the car on the higway for a good 15-20 miles. You want to check tranny fluid when it's good and warm.

Pull over afterwards on a flat surface. Leave it running. Pop the hood and remove tranny fluid dipstick. Clean it off with a lint free cloth. Some say to use a leather rag. Never seen one.

Reinsert the stick, let it sit a second, then pull it out. The fluid should be no higher than the upper mark. If it is, you have too much.
