Replacing the aux light bulbs from the headlight housing doesn't require removal of the housing, just take the rubber cup off and stick the new H3 bulb in, easy enough, shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. One may need to feel it on the driver's side though. I think that the aux light is good enough to augment the low beam in most situation. Why spend more money on the expensive fog lights that will get stolen.
And when the aux light is on, it is obvious, because you can see the additional illumination at the corners of the bumper. You don't even need an indicator light (in dash) to tell you that the aux light is on.
