'99 ML320 Harmonic Balancer was gone about a year and a half ago with 56K miles, no extended warranty. It supposedly destroyed all the way from oil pan to timing chain cover. After heavy discussions with the dealer, they/MB took the bill for $2,800. I have to check my receipt to find out the part number they used when replaced.
