Best recipe I know of:
Good battery
Faster heavy duty turbo starter
Synthetic oil
Pencil type plugs instead of loop type
Glow it 2 or 3 times if necessary

If all that fails, and you dont have electricity for a block heater, you're going to have to spring for a Webasto or something similar.
