Whenever you find these stats they are always skewed and biased from whomever compiled them. The real bottom line is their irrelevancy. You could find stats to support whatever position you want to take. Remember, guns don't kill people - other people use them to. I have several weapons, and only one of them has ever killed people. When new laws come into being, it only affects lawful gun owners and has absolutely no effect on the criminal element. After all, any one of us could leave our homes right now and within a couple of hours collect a variey of illegal drugs. ( Some may not even have to leave their homes

) The real root of the problem is a topic for another thread: truth in sentencing. That said, take a look at the link below (last paragraph under "National Homicide Trends"), and notice that the majority of homicides involve handguns, and the highest involvement in gun related fatalities is comprised of people too young to legally buy handguns under current laws.
