An '85 300SD challenges the 123 fleet !
Here is the newest:
GOOD:
1985 300SD w/ 279k
$500
Body is fair with a couple of surface rust spots
Tires and rims are good
Sat for a month and we put a new battery in, and fired her up
Drives straight, tight steering and wonderfully surprising firmness (corners better than my 123's)
BAD:
Electrical wonderland. Blinking headlights even with key out.
Bad key switch (maybe the culprit for all electronics)
Must start it with a gun that is wired to the fender screws that bypass the starter switch. Kind of fun
3 leaking injector hoses
possible head gasket problem. must educate myself more on this one (no coolant in oil, but steaming out from port side 6" below the injectors)
I simply couldn't pass it up for $500.
