The comparison was made in jest. I can walk in my garage and get in an old Ford with a high strung small block V8, a cookie cutter Honda, a Mercedes or the supercharged Regal. Each one is a completely different car. The Regal is no match for the Mercedes as far as quality and feel and it's ten years newer. The Mercedes is no match for the Regal in performance. In a comparison of apples to apples I'm sure that a six cylinder supercharged Mercedes would outpower the Buick. But at what cost? The 500 was a majestic car for it's time. Somewhat eccentric in my opinion and out of my league in cost. Whether they become classics has yet to be determined. The last time I looked they were still depreciating.
