Painted Wheel Wells

A very clean 126 I'm looking at has paint in the rear wheel wells (the entire wheel well). It matches the color of the car, and the dealer (mercedes) tells me that when they originally undercoat these cars, they use a plasticizer stuff that matches the color.

My concern was that this was actually overspray from a repair as I don't recall seeing colorful wheel wells, unless they are just too dirty nowdays to see it. I've only seen a photo of this car so I don't know if all the wells have this.

So, is this a real story, or is it overspray?

Thanks!
