All manufacturers rate transmissions - manual or automatic - by peak torque capacity and maximum input shaft speed, not horsepower.

If two engines produce the same peak torque, but one makes more horsepower at higher revs, the same transmission will be okay for either as long as the higher revving engine does not exceed rated maximum transmission input speed.
