A Porter Cable 7424 Starters kit is an excellent investment, I know both Meguiars and Autopia have kits available at reasonable prices. If you search online you can also find the polisher without accessories for $110.00 but then you'll need to buy weights and hook/loop attachment as well as polishing and finishing pads.

PC's are not agressive at all unless used at their fastest setting with an agressive polish/compound and a firm polishing pad. Using speed settings between 4 and 5 will give you controlable results and products like Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish or 3M Finesse It II both are light duty polishes. I would practice on the Suburbans hood a couple of times to get the hang of it and then move on to your MB. You'll be surprised at the improvement in appearance even on a garage queen.

PC's are also a fast way to apply and remove wax. Use a soft finishing foam pad to apply your favorite liquid wax and then use a microfiber bonnet to remove the wax after it's hazed.

One last comment. Orbitals are really not tough to use at all, it's a Rotary Buffer you really need to be careful with. A rotary used incorrectly will result in disaster and a new paint job. Rotary's are also notorious for burning up plastic/rubber trim on the car which again usually means replacement. Orbitals are really not nearly that agressive.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
