I have used these units back to the Allison days also.

I don't know how much you all are spending but these units are really inexpensive. You can get them here on fastlane for 140, I pay significantly less, but I buy from the same source as fastlane comes from.

The part on fastlane can be found by looking up a 1976 Jaguar xj12. Pick engine electrical and then ignition conversion kit. There is a newer picture there than the one I saved a few years ago:
