William...
I don't think you stirred up the nest, you just responded to it. I think we all like to play with our cars. I agree with you completely, as I've had various cars and bikes well into triple digit mphs, but on Interstates at a time when traffic was not a factor. Two cliches come to mind..."discretion is the better part of valor" and "there's a time and a place for everything". I, unlike you, have unfortunately received a few "rewards" (nothing real big) from law enforcement personnel in my travels, but have always shown respect, as they are simply doing their job. Not to mention, if you're in a situation where a police officer, or especially a judge, has such potential influence on your future, it's not an intelligent move to make an ass of oneself. Again, I still have my doubts whether the previous poster was embellishing or completely fabricating the account of his wife's exploits, because I am at a total loss to think that any law enforcement officials would let someone slide so easily for such a serious violation. But indeed, if it's true, I just hope that the two of them don't spawn. Arrogance, combined with idiocy is never a pretty sight.
