Jim, do a search, this has been discussed before. But the summary is basically like this. The average gasoline engine puts out more CO2, CO (the most toxic of all), hydrocarbons, and super-tiny particulates. The average diesel puts out more NOx and larger (but still tiny) particulates, those that we sometimes see as black smoke. I conclude from this that diesels are better for the environment. That woman is a totally brainless and rude moron. It's stupid enough to drive an SUV, it's a lot worse to think it's environmentally better than diesel passenger cars.
