I would like to get into handloading. 10mm and 8mm* is too damned expensive, and American made 8mm is anemic, to put it succinctly. 8mm is supposed to be .30-06 on 'roids. 8mm here is loaded at about 2300fps, and 2900fps is considered average for Euro spec. It basically boils down to American cartridge manufacturers thinking that us Yanks are stupid enough to put a big bullet in a smaller gun, so they load it lighter so it wont blow up.**
*For the un-initiated, 10mm is a handgun cartridge, 8mm is a rifle cartridge used mainly in Europe.
**8mm pre-1900 was .318 caliber, afterwards it moved to .323. Dont ask me why, it just did. *shrug*
