For once I was lucky. I found out about the factor number from a friend after I ordered the speedometer. The speedometer came from the same model and year. It has the same number on the back! Besides the money I saved, I saved the hassle of taking it to a shop to have the repair made and the down time. I'm not sure, but about everything else for this 23 year old car is hard to buy or have rebuilt locally. We have the dealer and a couple of import parts dealers, but speedometer shops, drive shaft rebuilders and other specialty shops who work on MB are harder to find.
