You drive 3000 miles a month!!? Well, with that kind of mileage, I would imagine that's all highway. If that is the case, you can go 5,000 - 6,000 miles between changes. That would cut down on your oil costs. As far as skipping filter changes, I wouldn't recommend that. The big difference between you Volvo and a diesel is soot. You need a fresh filter to catch this stuff.
