rdanz.....step #1 was: Buy stock in Meguiar's...just kidding. Seriously, I did a wash with Meguiar's Deep Crystal car wash, then went over the car with Meguiar's ScratchX (to eliminate all of the minute squirl marks and oxidation, if any), then polished with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish, then finished off with a coat of Meguiar's NTX Tech Wax. Let it be known that this is a LOT of work and you would be well-advised to do it over a two day period if doing it all by hand. I used the same processes on the grey body mouldings and they came out as nice as the paint. On the bottle of NXT wax it states in BOLD PRINT "Do not apply to rubber, vinyl or cloth surfaces!" I'm not exactly sure what prompted them to be so adament about it, but I do know that even an extremely light brush up against rubber trim turns your applicator black! There is apparantly a chemical reaction of some sort. Whatever the case, that process worked so well for me that I'm going to go through it two more times....then three more times in the fall.
