In addition to increased oxidation resistance, the new base stocks also have to meet a lower volatility specification. This means lower oil consumption, especially in the thinner weights.
Thanks! I knew there had to be a rational reason why they skipped I and K, and, yes, lower volatility. I knew that! I just FORGOT!!!
