walk across the street to central grocery, get the biggest Muffuletta Sandwich ever seen, grab a cold beer and set by the river eatin, then stroll back over to du monde for desert.
as g-benz said, with the exception of the big guys like brennans or commanders, best local flavor is small shops that constantly change faces and names.
oh, cresent city brewhouse mentioned above is not bad. good happy hour specials on oysters and drinks, and usually some pretty good jazz blowing. the atmoshpere is very good.
