This may not be a secret to you guys - but before I got my hands on a copy of the mercedes benz repair manual on CD (for my W124 series), all I read was how crappy the line drawings are, and how difficult they were to read.

I totally agree- on screen. PDFs are difficult to make out sometimes on screen. The fact is, the drawings are very, very crisp - as is the text.

The SECRET is to print out the PDFs you want on a high quality, laser printer. I simply took my CD to work, opened about 10 sections I wanted to have "on hand" - and sent them to our black/white printer. At 600 dpi, even 300 dpi, the images will come out incredibly well.

Basically, I am creating my own 'hard copy' manual in a three ring binder. Printing them out is key. And I tried it on my home desk jet - just not the quality of a laser printer.
