560 sl motor problem solved
I have recently got my 560 back from the shop. I had very low compression in number one cylinder. This was fixed by shimming the valve. The cylinder was not firing. This was somthing I have not seen in the foriums before. Has any one else had this to occuer? I had been told I had a burnt valve but this mechanic said he had recently worked on a 560sel with the same problem. He shimed the valve and it worked. I also had a fuel distributor problem. I had got a used one from a junk yard and it never did run right and after he fixed the valve problem he said the fuel would not adjust. I still had the original fuel distributor so he put that one back on and the number eight cylinder would still flud out. I was told I needed to get another fuel distributor. I got in touch with Bosch and talked to there Tech. They told me that a new one was $2600 and the rebuilt ones were any where from $1000 to $1500. I asked them was there any one who rebuilt these and I got a fellows name that rebuilds these things. I got one from this guy and it runs fine now. Any one need a fuel distributor rebuilt I can get you in touch. I went on a road trip this weekend and had the top down and was in heven. O well till the next problem I got a blown side marker to replace it blew on the trip but I think I can handel it.
