Like Mike said, all genres have their share of bad music and there's good music to be found there as well. Well, except country. 
I like a lot of rap, but most of what I hear and most of what is on MuchMusic or MTV is beyond stagnant. A lot of kids pick up on it as well. What I find really funny is meeting a lot of kids at our shows and finding out that 14-17 yr olds are into Zeppelin, AC/DC, Floyd, etc. It really is amusing. I was talking to some teens after a show about music and they got into an argument about which was better - Led Zeppelin II or III.
It warmed my heart. 
I keep an open mind to all kinds of music and whatever moves me, I like. There's a good song to be found in any genre, if you listen enough.
