Thanks for the suggestion. One advantage to buying from a "recycler" is that you don't have to deal with a "core charge" and can keep the original. I did pull out the voltage regulator as a spare... looked OK.
Does anyone know how to restore or rebuild an alernator? I would like to fix this one if possible. Any DIY sites on this?
