Bono's friends and colleagues stand beside him

Quote:
The world has come together to support Bono from U2. Well, at least the entertainment and civil liberties world. Last month, the Federal Communications Commission produced a ruling against Bono for his use of an expletive on the Golden Globes program.

The FCC received hundreds of letters complaining that Bono said, “This is really, really fu&*ing brilliant.”

Viacom, (owner of CBS) participated in the protest to the FCC along with Fox Entertainment, American Civil Liberties, Penn and Teller, Margaret Cho and others.

The group’s statement said that the FCC's ruling against Bono was "chilling free speech across the broadcast landscape.” This prompted broadcasters to avoid the use of live broadcasts.
You know, as bright and worldly as Bono is, he should know better than to use inappropriate language during a live broadcast. Nothing against the man personally -- we all make mistakes -- but I think this was just dumb as a rock.
