don't know what type of car you have-maybe I missed it- but your owner's manual, if you have one, should cover the oil and filter change. the search function of this site works quite well. usually not that tough even without a manual, get a handle on where your filter is and where the drain plug is in the oil pan. back both out a bit (so you won't have to fight them when the engine's warm). Take her for a drive and get all the oil you think you'll need and a filter. Head home and go to town changing it. You can always buy more oil than you'd need and keep it for the next time... it's lasted this long it can last another few months. I know on my 190 an oil filter wrench is handy.
