Along with wear-related items, have you had an alignment done lately?
Toe-in, camber, etc. is EXTREMELY critical on these cars...it makes the difference between getting 35K or 10K of use on your tires!
I was going through rear tires on my W124 every two years! After a careful alignment, rear tire wear was more in line with the fronts...and my replacement interval was more like 40K...
