Greetings from one junior member to another, rla. This is my first post on the forum as well.

Just wondering -- are *all* the lights dimmer on one side than the other -- i.e., do the brake, back-up and turn signal lights share the same malady as the tail light? I haven't graduated beyond the W123 models myself, but on my car there are separate hot wires to the bulbs but just one wire to ground. So if all your bulbs on one side show the same symptom, I'd have a good look at the ground connection.
