The fuel hoses coming out of the tank are rubber coupled to a screw-in connection. They rot out fairly commonly. I'd go with the factory stuff, otherwise you're cobbling stuff together. I don't think there is a problem running other types of fuel through the factory hoses. Not an especially expensive job, the parts aren't that expensive. The REAL problem is if the steel lines rust out, that's a much worse job.
You can replace thse screw-in hoses without removing the tank, done from under the car though. Get the tank as empty as you can first, it's a messy smelly job, but not especially hard.
It's not that hard to remove the tank if you are suspicious about it holding fuel, but if it were leaking, you'd smell it in the trunk, because that's where the tank is.
