Scott, the idea of getting live data is a good one, and maybe not so difficult. Imagine something like - a Mercedes Star diagnosis system on a ThinkPad, which would take care of the data requirements, while the car is running on a roller dyno, with the front wheels placed on something like wheel alignment swivel plates or some sort of heavy-duty lazy Susans which would allow you to turn the front wheels.
