Yes, Cup racing still involves carburetors and two valves per cylinder, but if you examine more deeply you will find that these guys get almost 800 Horsepower from 355 cubic inches of plain old American V8 and make it live for 500 miles. That's 2.25 horsepower per cubic inch!

They are not working with all the incredibly advanced technology of Formula 1 with engines of a basic design that had one purpose and that was for racing. They do it with configurations that were originally designed to go 100,000 miles making a couple of hundred horsepower.

Yes there is NOTHING stock about a stock car. The skin must match a template. Everything else about these cars could not be found in a car coming from Detroit, period. The blocks are high nickle content and even then are thrown away or make their way to the Saturday night dirt trackers after a Cup race.

These engines MAKE nearly 800 horsepower and due to their stock configuration, not designed for this purpose, literally bend in the middle while making that power.

In ANY kind of four wheel racing the "set up" is everything. Setting up an oval car is just as complex as setting up a Formula 1 car. To you it may just seem like a circle, but every corner is different and most of the "ovals" are not ovals at all with different banking, surface, etc.

There is MUCH MORE complexity to this racing than you realize. If you were to dig into it a little you would start to realize that.

I have been around people that don't like watching baseball. In most all cases I've seen, the person who does not like watching baseball is not familiar with the fine points of the game. If you are really into the game, you find interest in every pitch. There is much more to it than meets the eye. For those who get interested in the fine points they find it fascinating and spellbinding. For those who don't, they find it about as exciting as watching grass grow.

Most people who find baseball boring, however, don't belittle those who do. Making fun of the Southern accent of SOME of the drivers and others involved in NASCAR racing sounds like arrogance to me. Are you implying that anyone with a Southern accent is somehow inferior to you?

BTW. Although I occasionally watch NASCAR, I NEVER watch wrestling.

Have a great day,
