The term "orientals" has become offensive, just like blacks are no longer called "colored".

If you call an Asian an "oriental", he will answer that he is not a rug, at least in Southern California.

You might also notice that the signs in the aisles in supermarkets have all been changed to read "Asian foods", when they used to read "Oriental Foods".
