Yes, the 170Ds was available in the US. It was a pushrod engine good for, IIRC, around 43 hp, with suicide doors in the front. They come up for sale quite regularly. I am not sure though, if they were sold on the showroom floor, or ordered individually for the customer.

It is my intention to own and drive one someday.
