I sincerely hope I'm wrong in saying this but when my car gave those symptoms it was the evaporator. I'd go to AutoZone who'll loan (you buy and then they buy back) a set of AC gauges and vacuum pump and see what you have.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have a freon leak.
