My 123 is a completely diff system than yours, but perhaps the boys in Germany designed in some similar systems: The trans kickdown switch AND compressor share the same fuse. When the fuse is blown, the system default is full FAN.

Cause of the blown fuse was shorted kickdown switch wire under and between the trans mount.

Check your compressor fuse OR fuses in general, your system default may be similar to the 123 chassis. The only way to turn the FAN off was to turn the entire AC system off, no vent.

You did replace ALL the pods with new while you had the dash out didn't you?
