If you look at Menu#1 at the block diagram, you'll see a connection from the EA (N4/1) to the CTP switch, S29/3 (called the Pedal Force Recognition Switch) and that maybe bad or making a bad/intermittant connection? Probably 'fried' due to engine heat.

I'll check that out. Any idea where the CTP and Pedal Force Recognition switch reside (or are those one in the same)?
Also, here is what alldata says... not sure exactly how to read it.
