All a matter of worth, I have an uncle that spent $8K on a nice black job on a 74 stingray. Worth every penny in my opinion.

In contrast, if I was going to do a daily driven car, I'd prep it myself and just have maco or whoever is reasonably compatent and cheap spray it with my supplied good paint. Key is in the prep work. And how picky you are. I have not seen an OEM paint job in years that did not have orange peel and generaly looked like crap from that low pressure painting or whatever the EPA makes them use anymore. 90% of what I see come out of body shops on regular every day cars is unacceptable. And I have seen a lot. Yes, I'm a picky SOB.
