Hello,
On a Federal 1989 260E, removing the resistor did improve acceleration in the mid range(3000rpm and above). I have used a stopwatch to verify this. The car WILL pink(ping) on the 89 octane gasoline in USA when accelerating WOT above 3000rpm, so the use of 93 octane is mandatory with this modification. The EZL knocks back the ignition timing severely when operating in high ambient temps with high engine coolant temp anyway. Your results may vary.
