ill preface this by saying that about 5 months ago i installed a manual boost controller on my 85 300SD...i have also adjusted the ALDA to deliver more fuel to help out with the more air thats coming in to the engine...for a while it seemed to dramatically improve the car's performance.....but lately, within the past month or so, ive noticed that the car has lost a lot of power, especially from 20- around 45 mph....and judging by the boost gauge i put in, it seems to hang around 5-6 psi boost until the rpms get on up there around 3000 ...also,when sitting at a red light with the a/c on the car shudders like crazy, ive just quit turning it on altogether.... i adjusted the idle speed to try and correct it but that didnt last long at all, it just gradually started doing it again, and worse.....im pretty sure most of this is related to the valves being tight, but i just want to do a run down of what i plan to do and see if you guys think this is sufficient or if theres something i might need to do that ive missed....
i have ordered a set of valve wrenches and an instuctional cd from
www.repairflix.com ( excellent instructions btw) and i plan to attack the valves as soon as i can, i know they really need it...at the same time i plan to replace the fuel filters too, although im not 100% sure how to go about that, but anyway im hoping this will help my car get back where she needs to be....if ive missed anything or you guys have suggestions, please let me know
