$20 on the ignition switch..

Intermittent blower is a good clue. I put up with my engine dieing and the blower being flakey until I finally caught it with meter in hand.
If you can ever catch it when the blower doesn't work, check the voltage at Fuse #6 with the engine on. No power here indicates the switch.
I replaced the ignition switch (after reading many posts here about this problem area). The switch was about $26, the job took about 2 hours. After replacing mine I inspected the old one and it could have been revived with some internal cleaning and mild sanding of the contacts. The insides look similar to old stlye ignition points and are subject to the same pitting and carbon buildup.
My problem was actually two-fold. The mechanical connection from the key 'stalk' to the electrical switch was slightly bent causing the stops at the on position to be a few degrees shy of where it should be. This caused the 'points' to be only slightly contacting.
I have since e-mailed this procedure to several people and plan to find a way to get it on the web somewhere soon due to the trouble with e-mails with pictures attached.
I'll update this post when I have that done....
