You are best off if you can have it rebuilt in house. Like all rebuilt stuff there are likely to be issues afterward. If the guy only knows how to install units he will be screwed to deal with an issue with one.
The problem in both above cases is real common and should be dealt with immediately. The longer you wait the more trash gets pumped through the system. Had one the other day that quit shifting from the crude packed into the governor bore screen.
When you take it to destruction, figuring to exchange it, think about what you are getting back. The best rebuilts are ones that had very little wrong before rebuilding. Taken to failure the tranny becomes one you wouldn't want rebuilt. Someone gets it back under those exchange programs.
