One bottom rail was broken off. It was the one that just slips over two pins.

I had the heads off so I didn't need to loosen the oil pan. I had the oil sump cover off.

I found the answer to my oil pump chain question on another forum. Seems you can't get the timing cover back on with the chain on the crankshaft sprocket (or even on the crankshaft).

So what you do is leave the crank seal out, replace the cover, put the pump chain in through the crank hole in the cover, then on the sprocket, then put in the crank seal.

I would never have thought of this. Thank heaven for the internet!
