Strangely, in Australia they were badged 320E (and 320CE for the coupe and cabriolet) and yet the 2.8 litre versions were badged 300E (and 300TE for the wagon). I believe in European markets the 2.8 was badged 280E (and 280TE). The later 260E also became a 300E-2.6 prior to the discontinuation of the 2.6 M103. The early M104 versions also were badged 300E-24 (since the M103 300E was still available) and 300CE-24 (despite no M103 300CE being available). With the final update to the W124 we got the E220, E280 and E320. Our early W140s were also badged 300SE (for the 3.2), 400SEL (for the 4.2), 500SEL (for the 5.0) and 600SEL (for the 6.0) until the update made them S320, S420, S500 and S600. All just part of the sometimes confusing MB badging.
