You should start a new thread as you car has fully electronic transmission & the 1996 C220 is a fully mechanical one.

However, you should change the fluid & filter before making any judgement on the trans shift quality. You will need 8 L of special fluid # 001-989-21-03-10, filter & pan gasket.
