How the heck can a warped pan contribute to an oil leak from a bad dipstick tube O-ring?

Unfortunately this is very common behaviour. The shop replaces a bunch of parts until they hit the one that solves the problem. And then they charge you for ALL the parts, claiming that "they all contributed to the problem".

The problem is that the burden of evidence is on your shoulder..
