good morning. i have a '89-300e. over the last year or so every once in awhile when i went to start the car after just turning it off a few minutes before hand it would not start again until i left it sit for a little bit--turned over fine, but sounded like it just wasn't getting any gas. yesterday morning when i went to start the car after not driving it for several days, it would not start at all. again, it turned over fine, but would just not catch.

later a friend stood outside the car when i again was trying to start it, and once it did start briefly--he said he heard the gas pumping???. tried several times again and finally it started and again my friend thought he heard the gas.

surely would appreciate any suggestions as to what the problem might be. thank you.
