Mercedes metal keys are designed not to be duplicated. Neither the dealer not anyone else can cut it.

This is a farce. If you want a new key, you must go to a dealer and order one. The dealer will fax proof that you own the car, proof of who you are and the VIN number to Mercedes. They will ship a new key back to the dealer.

The cost is around $22. You must go to the dealer to order the key and you must go to the dealer to pick it up.
