Pressure built up in the coolant system and the hose popped off. Your hose was attached too loosely.
There should be a bump at the end of the radiator neck which the hose attaches to. That prevents the metal belt/clamp from sliding down and off the radiator neck, which is its natural tendency when under pressure.
Make sure your belt/clamp is on the side of the bump closest to the radiator, and secured tightly -- but not too tight or you will crush the neck altogether and have a whole new problem (Dont ask me how I know this.  )
