Outside of Clancy’s books I've never paid much attention to the CIA or any other police branch for that matter. The comments that Tenet’s tenure as the spy chief was a near record made me wonder, and don’t beat me up too much for this as, I never paid attention before, but I wondered if the CIA leadership is historically operated at the whim of the west wing? I thought that CIA, FBI and other semi-secret and secret branch were operated as fact finding organizations.........

Anyone know of historical information on this?
