That is an interesting one because that is the first time I heard your angle on the ticking. It has been there since I can remember and you may have the answer. You can here that ticking or clacking go away when the pressure builds up. There are times one or two lifters remain ckicking well past start up, but not all the time. So maybe I don't have complete pressure from the pump from a leaking valve and maybe I have a leak or spill over back to the oil pan that is constantly there.
